Romantic Date Ideas for Valentine's Day

DULUTH - Valentine's Day is just around the corner and those last minute planners may be out of luck for reservations, but here's some romantic ideas to get the wheels rolling.

Valentine's Day plans usually start with a candlelit dinner, but many places like Va Bene Caffe can't even take reservations anymore.

"The 8 o'clock was booked up three weeks ago," said Va Bene Caffe co-owner Mary Kay Berarducci.

If dinner isn't an option, there's always other alternatives.

"You could certainly have an afternoon lunch and then maybe take a walk or something. So, it doesn't have to be a nighttime thing," said Berarducci.

If you're not on a budget for the romantic 5-course meal, you can always squeeze in for dessert.

"You could certainly come in for dessert and coffee or a glass of wine and dessert," Berarducci said.

After your romantic dinner you can go home to a rose petal turndown or a bottle of champagne by the jacuzzi.

The A.G. Thomson House is known as one of the most romantic Inns in the country and can give you an edge for the end of your special night.

"We always have lots of packages on our website that you can go in when you're booking the room and just add things on to the room that you're booking," said A.G Thomson House co-owner Tim Allen.

You can request a more romantic package and even surprise that special someone.

"When they come back the beds turned down, there's champagne on ice with champagne flutes sitting there and truffles and the beds all set up, rose petals everywhere," said Allen.

Even though the house isn't available this Valentine's Day, they have openings the days leading up and will work with those on a budget.

"If you're on a budget and you have something in mind you want us to do for your partner, just let us know and we'll make it happen if we can," said Allen.

After a wonderful Valentine's Day you can keep the romance going with breakfast in bed.
