DULUTH - Volunteers are making housewarming gifts for a new apartment complex honoring a longtime advocate for the homeless in Duluth. More than 17 churches and organizations are making quilts for the Steve O’Neil Apartment Complex.
They are making more than 40 cotton and hypoallergenic quilts for future renters to keep them warm.
"We want them to know they're part of the neighborhood, they're part of this town,” said Jo Johnson. “These are they're neighbors, are they're friends and we're here to welcome them."
The group will gather again to make more quilts.
