DULUTH - Tuesday marked the first day of school for many students across the Northland.
That had children at Piedmont Elementary like Trevor Illikainen very excited.
Many parents dropped their children off early for breakfast, giving them time to make friends before classes started.
This year Piedmont offers new curriculums, giving students the opportunity to learn even more.
"I heard there is a new curriculum, excited to learn new activities learning math skills and reading, while making new friends and having fun," said Stephanie Jaskowia, the mother of a first grader.
Piedmont also offers free all-day kindergarten which gives students advanced academics.
