DULUTH - State and city leaders celebrated work that will keep an historic landmark in the community for years to come.
They celebrated renovations at Wade Stadium with a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday.
It was a chance to mark the importance of the $4.6 million project.
Mayor Don Ness says the work will preserve an important part of the community's heritage.
"A lot of memories in this stadium; this is one of the last remaining WPA stadiums in the country and has been an important part to the West Duluth neighborhood and to generations of baseball players, said Ness.
Crews will work steadily to get the project done so players can use the field next spring.
