VIRGINIA – Virginia firefighters put out a fire inside an apartment complex racking up $80,000 dollars’ worth of damage. Responders say when they arrived at the scene heavy smoke was coming out of the building and fire from one of the resident’s closet.
"Our interior crews were able to go in and find the fire and extinguish it rather quickly,” Virginia Fire Department Captain Kevin Poffs said. “But it took us quite a while to make sure we didn't have any extension of fire to the other apartments and to evacuate the smoke."
Authorities say the cause of the fire is still unknown and one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
