Name Your Price to Adopt a Cat in Douglas Co.

SUPERIOR - When kittens arrive at the Humane Society of Douglas County they are adopted within a week, but older cats could stay there for months. To find their more mature cats loving homes, the shelter has launched a Name Your Price campaign.
Instead of paying the everyday price of $50 to take a cat home, adopters can name their own price.
This is a steal because all of the cats are spayed, neutered, dewormed and vaccinated. "We have some that have been here for well over a month, some are getting close to two months,” Humane Society of Douglas County Manager Rae Ann Anderson said. “We don't like anybody to have to be in these little cages for more than a month or so, so that's part of the reason we'd really like to find them forever homes."
The Name Your Price campaign will last for about two weeks or until all the cats have been adopted out.
Shelter officials also tell FOX 21 they have been loaded with kittens this spring and summer from cats that are running loose and mating.
