Battle of the Badges Kicks Off in Hermantown

HERMANTOWN - A challenge between Hermantown police and volunteer firefighters kicked off Wednesday. It's the 3rd annual Battle of the Badges.

The two departments will compete to see who can bring in the most blood donations to help fill the dangerously low supply at Memorial Blood Center.

"This is just a way for us to give in a little bit different manner,” Hermantown Police Department Chief Jim Crace said. "It's a tangible result of maybe being able to save a life in another way that we're not used to."

You can donate blood through this Saturday, just look for the van at Hermantown's Summerfest.
