SUPERIOR - After 33 years on the force, Superior Police Chief Charles LaGesse is retiring.

LaGesse told FOX 21 Friday that his patrol officer years was the highlight of his career.

But now, at nearly 53 years old, he has maximized his pension and is simply ready to take on the next chapter in his life.

"There's no financial incentive for continuing to do it,” said LaGesse. “So if I was enjoying every day and finding it immensely satisfying, I'd probably say I'd do this for nothing, but it's not the case.” “The jobs are stressful and I think it's the right time to leave for lots of reasons."

Chief LaGesse says he will hand in his keys at the end of December.

He plans to spend his retirement enjoying hobbies and spending time with his family.
