BEMIDJI - The Bemidji woman facing a charge in connection to her six–year–old cousin's death will undergo a mental evaluation to see if she's competent to stand trial.
Twenty–two year old Rachel Downer is facing a count of second degree manslaughter.
Her cousin, Mercedes Mayfield, was found by her mother frozen to death in February.
Downer was supposed to take the girl to her apartment to babysit her that night but changed her mind and didn't tell the girl's mother.
Downer said she watched Mayfield walk into the building then got in her car and left.
