Downtown Business Owners Learn More About Superior St. Construction
DULUTH - Slowly but surely, business owners in downtown Duluth are finding out more about what the new downtown will look like.
The Greater Downtown Council hosted a meeting Thursday morning to talk about the three–year Superior Street reconstruction project.
Some asked why there are not exact plans for the layout of the street yet.
City officials explained that it has been a matter of balancing everyone's wants between parking, pedestrian and multimodal traffic.
"It's not easy to balance all of those needs out within a confined space so that's why it’s probably taken a little longer this summer than anticipated to work through some of those things," Keith Hamre from the City of Duluth Planning Division said.
The project is expected to kick off in 2016.
