Duluth's Mayor Proclaims Ask Day

DULUTH - On Monday, locals gathered at Duluth's City Hall with a goal of protecting children.
Parents and caretakers are standing up against unlocked firearms.
As a part of the Ask Day proclamation Duluthians took a pledge to ask homeowners if they had unlocked guns in their homes.
The goal is to protect children from fatal and non-fatal accidental shootings.
The Ask Campaign is a national effort.
In just this past year, more than 100 kids were killed from gun related accidents in the United States.
While looking at a map of the U.S. with those 100 kids shown, Duluth Mayor Don Ness explained, "Each and everyone one of those dots represents tremendous tragedies for those families. A tradegy that is so pointed, because they're kids and it's preventable."
Mayor Ness also hopes gun owners will be responsible with how they store their weapons.
