HAYWARD - Whether you're using a flashabou or a bucktail, this weekend is all about the elusive musky."Musky guru, Tom Kersten said, "It's all about the thrill, the excitement of catching a fish that large."It's the 65th annual Musky Fest in Hayward and the excitement is spreading like a virus."They call it musky fever and the people that get it can get it really bad."Musky fest is a non–stop party all weekend with a carnival, food, music and much more.Retail manager at Bait and Bottle, Robert Schuster said, "It's crazy. Lots of different things going on."Businesses are reaping the benefits of the festivities. "The store ramps up and gets pretty busy and crazy at times.Anglers participating in the tournament, are in luck.Schuster said, "The bite has been fantastic. It's been better that it has been in a bit and musky is starting to crank up here."However, remember, the musky is the fish of ten thousand casts...it's like hunting the king of the jungle."Well Muskies are the number one predator. So it's similar to out in Africa, the number one predator would be a lion."In the end, it's not what about you catch but how much fun you have.If you come to Musky Fest this weekend, you can even go inside of a giant musky, like those folks, and with events going on all weekend long, there's plenty to do.For a schedule of events, you can go here: http://www.haywardareachamber.com/MuskyFest/events.htm
