SUPERIOR - A local non-profit all about empowering youth celebrated a milestone Thursday. To commemorate the Douglas County 4–H centennial; city leaders and members of the group planted a Fiesta Maple tree on the courthouse lawn in Superior.
4–H educators say the ceremony symbolized connecting the past with the future.
"It's a constant passing of leadership from one generation to the other,” Douglas County 4-H Youth Development Educator Joan Wimme said. “It really helps keep our organization strong."
The group kept the celebration going inside the courthouse with hands on learning displays and ice cream sundaes.
