Changes, Delay in Street Fee Ordinance Causes Confusion

DULUTH - Duluth city councilors have, once again, pushed back their vote on a new $5 monthly street fee.

Late Monday evening, an amendment was added to the ordinance that says if the street by your property has been re-done, or assessed, and you helped pay for it then you shouldn't have to pay the proposed fee for one year.

"I think it's more important to do it right than to do it quickly,” explained district 2 city councilor, Joel Sipress. “If it takes us a little bit longer to make it as fair as possible before we consider actually implementing it, I think that's time well spent."

The city council will consider the monthly street fee again June 23.
