UPDATE: Victim of Mine Pit Fall Improves

CHISHOLM – A Hibbing woman who fell 100 feet down an old mine pit is expected to make a full recovery.
Molly Van Dyke, 29, is listed in good condition.
She suffered bruises, lacerations and a broken neck, but has full use of her limbs, according to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center.
The hospital released this statement from Van Dyke's family: "The Van Dykes would also like to thank the community for its outpouring of compassion and prayer and ask that those prayers continue in the months of therapy and rehabilitation ahead in Molly's recovery. Most importantly, Molly and Ryan would like to thank the many rescuers who came to her aid, including the Chisholm Police and Fire departments, the Hibbing Police and Fire departments, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, Chisholm Public Works employees, Chisholm EMS, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Chisholm Ambulance Service, and Northern Helicopters."
Rescuers pulled Van Dyke from the mine pit around 4:30 p.m. Monday and flew her to St. Mary's Duluth.
