Woman Suspected In Amber Alert Taken Into Custody

DULUTH- Cassandra Edmonds, the suspect in an Amber Alert issued May 9, 2014 in Florida, has been taken into custody by a local law enforcement agency in Minnesota.

The Amber Alert was issued as part of efforts to locate 2 year-old LeRail Johnson who had been missing for 2 days.

The two year-old is believed to have been recovered in Duluth, Minnesota. He is reported to be in good health and does not appear to have been harmed.

The 2 year old was not a biological child of Edmonds.

Authorities say the child's mother is currently being held in a Shakopee prison.

Edmonds was taken into custody uneventfully, as she returned to the vehicle described in the Amber Alert.

She is under arrest for two counts of Felony Child Abuse described in a warrant that was walked through by Riviera Beach Police last night.

The child abuse is related to two children who were removed from Edmonds' custody earlier this week by DCF officials in Palm Beach County.

According to Sergeant Travis Walker of the Riviera Beach Criminal Investigation Section, Edmonds was traced by the Riviera Beach Police cellphone team through the pings of her phone to a local Woodbury shopping center.
