WASHINGTON- Senator Amy Klobuchar also called from Washington, to talk about her long time friend and mentor.
Senator Klobuchar said, "Jim Oberstar was one of a kind. He was someone that never forgot where he came from. He's a miner's kid, and he went on to chair one of the most powerful committees in the United State's Congress. Every time a miner goes to work they should think about Jim Oberstar and the work he did to make the mines safe, and to keep the mines open."
The senator also said she greatly admired Oberstar for his contagious, positive energy.
She said her fondest memory of him was in a little bar in Chisholm, when he endorsed her for senate.
