Lake Co. Gets New Severe Weather Warning System
By:

TWO HARBORS - Residents living on the North Shore will soon have a different way of finding out when emergencies are happening in their town.Lake County Board of Commissioners have approved an emergency communication network called CodeRED.
The system will send out severe weather alerts to residents with a call, text, email or through social media posts.
That means no more sirens.
"It's a better solution, Lake County Administrator Matt Huddleston said. “Meets with today's new technologies to be able to actually get to people and given them a clear message of what's really going on.One of the issues with the siren is it was ambiguous, it was just a siren.” “I don't know if people really knew what the emergency was."
The new system will go in affect later on this week.
