Runners Brave Cold Temps For Fitger's 5K
By:

DULUTH- More than 2000 runners, of all ages, took to the streets this morning despite the dreary weather.
It still rained off and on, but runners were spared the brutal freezing rain and snow that was threatening the Northland.
While it was a chilly race day, spirits weren't dampened at all.
Grandma's Marathon PR director, Bob Gustafson said, "yeah this is typical Fitger's weather. It seems like every year no matter what the situation is, we normally get either rain or some snow or a really windy day for Fitger's. It's one of those annual traditions. So folks that come out and participate in Fitger's are used to it at this point."
The first man across the finish line wasTrevor Zimak, 30, of Thunder Bay, with a time of 15 minutes and 54 seconds.
The first woman across the line was, 5 time winner and Duluth resident, Katie McGee, who also happened to have a baby just months ago.
