DULUTH - Nineteen downtown Duluth restaurants are preparing for their final day of Eat Downtown. Participating restaurants said the event is the perfect way to say good bye to old man winter and hello to spring. When the sun is shining and the beer is flowing, there couldn’t be a better time to find a steal of a deal you just can't pass it up. “A three course meal for $10 is too good to pass up,” said Richars Selz of JJ Astor, on top of the Radisson Hotel. “People try and get out on a lunch break and treat themselves.” For restaurants downtown, the record breaking cold has hit local businesses hard, and Eat Downtown has drawn the Northland out of hibernation. “People are tired of all these snow storms and bad weather conditions,” said David Kalligher of Sir Benedict’s Tavern on the Lake. “With the sun coming out the way it is, and with the weather going up to the 50's even 60's. People are excited and they want to eat outside by that beautiful lake out there." At Sir Benedict’s on London Road, 75 percent of people walking through the door have taken advantage of the Eat Downtown deals. It's a way to see Duluth in a different light and become a tourist in your own city. The Eat Downtown deals run through Friday April 11.
