ASHLAND - The City of Ashland will soon be led by its first ever female elected mayor.
Debra Lewis will be sworn in next Tuesday to start her four year term.
She said her main goal is economic development and also plans on gearing efforts toward revitalizing Main Street, attracting businesses to the community, and planning ahead for street repairs.
"Well it was a very exciting thing. If you had told me on New Year's Eve this year that I would be Mayor of Ashland in three months, I would've said you are out of your mind," said Mayor-elect Debra Lewis.
Lewis said it's important to her to improve the perception of the city not only for businesses, but for future residents.
