DULUTH - If you're looking for a place to eat that doesn't serve your typical, pizza, burger with fries, or pasta, there is a little place just north of Duluth called the New Scenic Café that’s serving up what the owner calls 'personality cuisine.'

"Everybody has dreams and this is one of mine,” said head chef and owner, Scott Graden.

He’s had 15 years with a picture perfect view of Lake Superior, cooking up tuna tacos, brussel sprout salad and duck confit.

"There are lots of hamburgers, and french fries, or pizza or pasta and they're all wonderful things,” Graden said. “I don't think we need any more of that."

His story starts on the North Shore in his grandma’s kitchen.

From there, Graden chased the mountains to Montana where he went to school as a chemistry major.

Little did he know, working with food and ingredients is a lot like an experiment.

He has the kitchen as his lab and the New Scenic Café menu as his masterpiece.

"It's kind of neat to see what the heck we did over all these years,” Graden reflected. “It's kind of fun."

To celebrate 15 years, the New Scenic Café is getting ready to release its first cookbook.

The book already has 650 pre-orders online and it's set to hit the shelves this month.
