DULUTH- Dozens of hard working students from Hermantown and Ordean East were rewarded for their determination today.900 students from the schools take part in the path to aviation program each semester and it gives them a chance to have real world educational experience. President of the Duluth Aviation Institute, Sandra Ettestad said, "well our whole objective is to inspire them with flight. And to give them an opportunity to see the world in a different perspective. From above."Pilots donate their time, their resources and their fuel to be able to share their expertise with the students."The love of aviation is great enough to where we want to see our young people come up. Most of your pilots are more than willing to promote this program."The top 15 percent in the program were rewarded with the opportunity to fly, some of them, for the first time."Awesome!""It was really cool."As president of cirrus aircraft.Pat waddick's children grew up around aviation, but that didn't make him any less proud."These are going to be our future leaders, someday. And from a parent's stand point, it really makes you proud when you see your kids connect with something. And have a passion for it."The program was designed to improve test scores and inspire student interest in stem subjects, and Ettestad says it's been successful."Well the path to aviation program has really proven in the last four years how successful it is to bring student's comprehension of science concepts up to a better level. That they improve to 2, to 3, to 4 hundred percent in their comprehension."For more information on the program go to: http://www.duluthaviationinstitute.org
