HERMANTOWN - Thanks to the $49 million referendum passed this fall, the Hermantown School District is starting to look at plans for a new high school.

The district is forming committees to cater to every aspect for the new building.

This week, school officials are looking for community members, teachers, and students to take part in the flow and function committee.

"Where is the best place for lunchrooms, theater, gyms, classrooms?” said Hermantown Schools Superintendent Brad Johnson. “Just kind of talk about how that building will flow, so it flows so it's very efficient."

If you want to be on the committee, you can send a letter to the superintendent at BradJohnson@hermantown.k12.mn.us or by mail to 4307 Ugstad Road, Hermantown, MN 55811.

Letters are due at noon on Thursday March 20.

The first committee meeting is set for Thursday, March 27 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

The group will continue to meet on Thursdays until it reaches its goal.

Groundbreaking on the new high school is set for late summer 2014.

Opening day for the school is set for fall 2016.
