Duluth Police Increase Parking Enforcement

DULUTH - Duluth Police are cracking down on drivers to make streets more passable.

Police said cars will be ticketed or even towed if they aren't moved in a 24 hour period or not parked on the alternate side of the street.

Violating these ordinances could make travel more dangerous and block plows, buses and emergency crews from getting through, said police.

"If there's a fire those fire engines and fire rigs might not be able to get as close to the scene as they like to, to be able to work on a fire as quickly as they can,” said Sgt. Ryan Morris, with the Duluth Police Department. “So obviously there's a public safety issue there."

Extra patrols will be out this week looking for problem parked cars.
