BABBITT - Wednesday, the 24–year–old Babbitt man accused of killing his mother's boyfriend was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation to see if he's competent to stand trial.
Shawn Doherty is facing one count of second degree murder.
Authorities say he strangled 55–year–old Paul Bulen to death.
Bulen was found dead in January on the street outside his girlfriend's home.
Doherty faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
