DULUTH - A local nonprofit became $10,000 richer.
As part of Compudyne's 25th anniversary they held a contest giving away $10,000 to a Northland non-profit.
Residents submitted more than 20 organizations.
Compudyne narrowed that down to four finalists and then let the public vote online for the winner.
After more than 4,500 votes First Witness, a child abuse resource center, got the big check.
"We promise we will put this money to good use,” said Beth Olson with First Witness. “It will support child abuse victims and families right here in southern St. Louis county."
The other finalists: Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Pregnancy LifeCare Center and the Damiano Center did not walk home empty handed.
They each received $1,500.
