Police: Six Men Involved in Armed Carjacking

DULUTH - An investigation is underway after six men beat up a man outside of his car, according to police.
Officers were called to the 10 block of East 6th St. at 9:23 p.m. Monday to the report of a robbery and stolen vehicle.
Police said a 34-year-old man drove up to a home on the block to pick up his female friend.
That's when six black men came out of the house and up to the victim's car.
One of the suspects opened the passenger door and pointed a handgun at him and five other suspects pulled him out of the car and started punching him, according to police.
The suspect with the gun then came over and started hitting him with the butt of the handgun, took his wallet and drove off in the victim's vehicle, police said.
The other suspects ran off.
The victim and the suspect with the handgun know each other.
The victim was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect with the gun is described as a 17-year-old black male and 6' tall.
Duluth Police recovered the stolen vehicle, unoccupied, in the 200 block of East 4th St. at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday.
