DULUTH, Minn. - Duluth police are working with One Roof Housing to clean up Duluth’s Hillside neighborhood.
Police say blight, like broken windows, abandoned homes and graffiti contribute to the area's crime rate, and if it's cleaned up, crime may go down."Blight promotes crime in the sense that people may not have as much pride in their neighborhood,” said Duluth Police Sgt. Gayle Holton. “They're not as engaged in their neighborhood; they're not out and about keeping after things and looking after things."
Two blighted properties in Duluth’s Hillside are expected to be torn down next month.
