DULUTH, Minn. - A campaign kicked off to bring hundreds of books to Northland students.
The International Book Giving Day Book Drive is collecting new or gently used books to give to every student at Piedmont Elementary.
It’s all in an effort to encourage them to read more.
“In our culture reading is fundamental to getting around in life,” International Book Giving Day founder Amy Broadmoore said. “One of the main ways kids learn to read is by reading books for fun, so we're just promoting kids to read recreationally."
You can drop off books through Feb. 7 at Fitger's and J. Skylark bookstores as well as Mount Royal Fine Foods and Dunn Brothers Coffee.
