SUPERIOR, Wis. - Superior officially said goodbye to police Chief Charles Lagesse and swore in new Chief Nick Alexander. Chief Alexander has been an officer for 16 years and comes from a long line of law enforcement. Monday afternoon, nearly 100 people joined to watch his wife and father pin on his new badge."Your handwork and dedication made me look good, and I don't think I'd be here today without that kind of support,” Chief Alexander said, referring to his officers. “I value the confidence and trust that you have in me and I will do my best to maintain it and improve it." Alexander says his long term goal is to strengthen the trust between officers and the community while also holding his men and women in blue to the highest standard possible."Recent events have certainly caused some to have an eroded trust in the police. There is opportunity in that criticism though," he said. Alexander is the 19th person to hold the title of chief in Superior.
