Native Community, Friends Host Dry NYE Celebration

DULUTH, Minn. - Duluth's Native Community and friends hosted a different kind of New Year’s Eve bash Wednesday evening, one with family and kids as the focus. There was a big meal, dancing and games. The goal was to offer a dry and family-oriented event that everyone can enjoy. "It's really important to have something else to do,” said Babette Sandman with Duluth’s Indigenous Commission. “I think that's the hardest thing is when you're changing your life. You're no longer drinking, you're no longer drugging. What do you do?" The group also recognized kids in the community that have done good deeds throughout the year.
