DULUTH - UMD students of The School of Fine Arts collaborated with
Prove Art Gallery for a special exhibit supporting shop technician, Brian
Hendrickson, who has been battling Leukemia.
All the artwork hung at the exhibit was made by UMD
professors and students, and is centered around a common theme of wood,
honoring Hendrickson's role at the University.
Hendrickson works one–on–one with the shop students in the
tweed gallery, and helping to build wooden structures and canvases.
For students who work so closely with Hendrickson on a daily
basis, this is their way of saying thank you and lending their support.
“He's just always around, always wanting to help, always
willing to give a hand in the shop, build something for you if you don't
understand how to, or help you learn how to build it,” said Prove Art Gallery Director,
Taylor Kline, when asked about Hendrickson. All proceeds raised from the artwork sold go directly to Hendrickson
and his family. The exhibit will remain open through January 3rd.
