DULUTH - The College of St. Scholastica is celebrating as one of 10 schools in the nation that has been awarded a $196,200 grant.
It’s from the Clare Boothe Luce Program of the Henry Luce Foundation.
The goal is to get female students to pursue careers in STEM fields, which include science, technology, engineering and math.
CSS officials say it's an honor to be chosen for the grant, and the money will enrich the already established programs they offer."It's kind of a good testament to St. Scholastica's long standing support of girls and women in the sciences," said Bob Ashenbacher, CSS executive director of communications. The money will be used over the next three summers to fund eight female students to do research with faculty in chemistry, math and computer science.
