32 Displaced After Cloquet Motel Fire

CLOQUET, Minn. – An early morning fire severely damaged multiple housing units Thursday. Crews were called to the Golden Gate Motel around 1:57 a.m. and arrived to heavy fire coming from a motel unit and the front of the building. The fire gutted one unit, damaged two adjacent units and the apartment above, according to the Cloquet Area Fire Distrct. No one was injured and a cat was safely removed from the upstairs apartment. Because of power and utility disruption, 32 people were displaced. The American Red Cross is working to find alternative housing for the residents.
