DULUTH - High schoolers got an intellectual kick on UMD’s campus.
The first annual Physics Olympiad kicked of there.
Nearly 20 seniors and juniors put their creativity to the test by solving theoretical and experimental problems in the area of physics.
Professors say the challenge is all about building skill and inspiration.
"Basically this is to have fun,” UMD Associate Professor of Physics Sergei Katsev said. “If you like solving problems this is one of those things where you think hard and enjoy solving problems."
Winners of the competition took home honorary diplomas and monetary prizes.
