DULUTH, Minn. - Lake Superior Community Health Center is keeping a 20 year tradition alive.

The Duluth and Superior locations have decorated trees with hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves.

The idea is called the mitten tree.

Handmade and donated items come from staff and locals who give a little to the community.

The items that decorate the trees go to patients and locals in need of the winter belongings to keep them warm.

"Just to be able to give back to those of our patients and those in the community and just really do what we can to improve the lives of others," said Ashley Sirois, human resource coordinator at Lake Superior Community Health Center.

Donations can be made now through February and dropped off at the front desk of each location on Tower Avenue in Superior or Grand Avenue in Duluth.
