Duluth Police Investigate 2 Attacks On Women

DULUTH - Duluth police were on high alert Thursday after two women were attacked in two separate incidents in the Hillside neighborhood just this week.The most recent attack happened Thursday around 5 a.m. near 5th Avenue East and 4th Street.Police said the suspect approached a woman with a gun and demanded her purse. The victim got into a struggle with the suspect before he took off down an alley.Police only described the suspect as a white male around 20 years old.Also Thursday, police released information about another unrelated attack of a woman.It happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday at 18th Avenue East and 3rd Street.Police said the victim was walking when a drunken guy attacked her from behind and ran off with her purse. The woman suffered minor injuries.Police described the suspect as a black male, around 6' tall, 50 years old, a stocky build, scruffy beard and wearing a black, puffy jacket.Duluth police urge anyone with information about these two attacks to call 911 right away.
