TWO HARBORS, Minn. - After a loss in funding the food shelf in Two Harbors is having trouble paying for the 160 turkeys it needs for this holiday season. The Agate cheerleaders, along with high school sports teams and clubs, have started a contest called Turkey 20 to see who can raise the most money to buy turkeys for families in need."We decided we couldn't do it on our own because there are so many turkeys that we need to sell,” said senior cheerleader, Adrianna Muellerleile. “We've taken all of our sports teams and all of our clubs and we're all selling them." The girls and boys basketball teams, the hockey team, and the National Honor Society are just a few organizations involved in the Turkey 20. In just two days the school has raised enough to buy more than 30 turkeys. The contest ends Tuesday, Dec. 2 and the team selling the most turkeys will win the tacky turkey trophy. Each turkey costs $20. To donate contact the Two Harbors school at 218-834-8201.
