DULUTH - Have you ever wondered what happens to old hotel sheets and towels? One little girl decided to reach out to hotels to collect and donate them.
Jazzelle Waxvik lives in Twig and is only 10 years old. She’s collected more than 1,500 old hotel towels, sheets, rags and pillow cases from Duluth hotels. She brought the donations to CHUM, Damiano, Southern St. Louis County 4H, Animal Allies, Esmund Building (Former Seaway), and Head Start Families.
She says this is her way to give back to the community, but she never imagined everything coming together this fast.
"It only took me about four days and I had two vans full of towels,” said Waxvik. “It was a lot and I worked on it and I worked hard."Waxvik said the reason she decided to do this was to help her community and keep people warm this winter.
Donating hotels included Country Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn, Fitger’s Inn, Comfort Inn West, Sheraton Duluth Hotel, Canal Park Lodge and Fairfield Inn.
