DULUTH - University of Minnesota Duluth students and big time lawmakers are working to make Sunday liquor sales happen.Thursday evening, State Representative Joe Atkins, executive director of the Minnesota Beer Activists Andrew Schmitt, Senator Roger Reinert, and Edina City Manager Scott Neal talked about how the craft brewing culture is becoming more popular.
They say Minnesota is losing more and more money to neighboring Wisconsin because of the Sunday sales laws."There's so many laws in our books nowadays that aren't really necessary or are kind of old fashioned,” said UMD philosophy student, Kayla Huck. “I think just having the community really look at it and reconsider."
Lawmakers say if Sunday sales were allowed it would significantly boost the state's economy.
