DULUTH- Snowmobiling, skating, skiing and ice fishing are some of Northlanders' favorite winter activities.
But things can get dangerous if you're not prepared.
Monday marked "Minnesota Winter Hazard Awareness Week."
It's a friendly reminder that winter is here.
This week's intent is to reduce the risks associated with
winter weather.
So, how can we be prepared for winter storms?
One winter survival tip is to stay home.
Carol Christenson, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service,
said, “If you don't have to drive during a winter storm or right after a
winter storm, don't. Stay home. Let the plows do their job. Get the roads clear
and safe and then go out.”
Weather experts also recommend driving with caution at night
because lower visibility combined with darkness will fluctuate from bad to
really bad.
