DULUTH, Minn. – At Spirit Mountain, the snow is helping the ski hill gear up for the winter season. They started making snow around 6 p.m. Sunday before Mother Nature started providing some of her own.The plan is to have snow making going on around the clock at Spirit Mountain for the next several days. How much they will make is still up in the air."It's all going to depend upon conditions. Natural snow is absolutely fantastic and we love it and we'll take it anytime we can get it. Right now we're really looking at building base and that's exactly what snowmaking allows us to do," said Spirit Mountain's executive director, Brandy Ream. The goal is to have some skiable terrain open by this weekend.Normally, opening weekend is right around Thanksgiving. They've launched a new website spiritmt.com where you can find out more about purchasing season passes and where they will offer a daily message.
