Itasca Co. Man Arrested for His 2 1/2 Month Old Son's Death
INGER - On October 23rd, 2014 at approximately 3:15 PM the Itasca County Sheriff's Office took into custody a 38 year old from Inger Minnesota for the death of his 2 ½ month old son Joseph Jenkins.
On October 16th, 2014 at approximately 1:00 PM the Itasca County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call to the residence of a 2 ½ month old baby not breathing.
Emergency personal responded and performed CPR.
The infant was transported to Deer River Hospital and then life flighted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
On October 17th, 2014 the infant passed away and an autopsy was performed.
Results of the autopsy indicated that the infant suffered Blunt Force Trauma.
The father is currently being held in the Itasca County Jail pending formal charges.
The Itasca County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Deer River Ambulance Service, Grand Rapids Police Department, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
