Apartments, Retail Space to Go Up on London Road

DULUTH - The intersection on London Road and 21st Avenue East is about to look a lot different. The corner lot where Burger King used to be will soon be home to a 100-plus unit luxury apartment building with retail spots on the ground level. City officials say they've been trying to promote this prime real estate for months with the hope of attracting a big developer to help with Duluth’s housing shortage. "We know there's a need for housing and while commercial business is always fantastic and we welcome that this plan will include that,” said City of Duluth communication director, Daniel Fanning. “We know as the city's been saying now for over a year there's a need for housing across the spectrum." Friday, developers with Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors are expected to announce details of the building and what businesses will fill the retail spots.
