SUPERIOR - The last guests at Superior's Bayfront Inn checked out for good Monday evening, as the hotel is set to be demolished.
Built in 1968, owners say the Bayfront Inn is outdated and needs too many renovations to keep up with the newest hotel trends.
The owners, Oliver Companies, have plans to tear the building down and look at other options for the land."When you take an old building down a put a new building up some people are quite happy about that, some people are sad about it,” explained Oliver Companies project manager, Jim Toninato. “I think it'll be good for the community. I think it'll be really good for Superior."
Owners say what they do with the land depends on the possibility of a new Marriott going up right across the street.
Demolition on the building is set to begin early November.
