CARLTON - The month of October is Mental Health Awareness Month. And in Carlton, suicide is on the minds of parent survivors. This Saturday, Oct. 11, is the 6th Annual Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlton. The walk is a free community event for people impacted by suicide or simple in need to connect with others for support."We were involved in my son's life, and to me, he tried to be very happy and to show everybody he was happy. And inside he was just in so much pain - not the physical pain - but the mental pain," said Jo Angell, a parent survivor. After the walk around 10:30 a.m., a 23-year-old Duluth man, who was once suicidal and suffers from depression, will offer a message of hope. For more information, click here.
