Duluth Walks to End Alzheimer's

DULUTH- Hundreds of people braved the cold and the wind Saturday, to help raise awareness for a disease that touches millions of families.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans live with Alzheimer's disease, and that number may increase to as many as 16 million by 2050, according to the Alzheimer's association.

At the Duluth walk to end Alzheimer's people were able to show how much they care about fighting the disease.

UMD Rotaract member, Maggiy Emery said, "I think Alzheimer's is special to each one of us, personally for me, my grandma just passed away about six months ago, so this an event, from Alzheimer's, so this is an event that's really important to me to be out her showing support for the cause."

Alzheimer's is one of our nation's most expensive conditions.

Care costs the US $214 billion dollars annually.

The Duluth walk has raised nearly 60 thousand dollar to help find a cure.
