Superior Senior Complex Making Progress
By:
SUPERIOR - A project to remedy Superior's limited senior housing is making headway. City officials say construction for the Grand Central Plaza on the 1300 block of Weeks Avenue is actually moving a little bit ahead of schedule.
Frames for the different housing levels have already gone up.
Next crews will start to work inside the new facility which will offer market rate one to three bedroom apartments for people 55 years of age and over.
"The idea is to allow and provide for the seniors that want to downsize,” Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen said. “Then their residential properties become available to younger couples to regenerate if you will the turnover in the neighborhoods."
City leaders also tell FOX 21 the number of renter applications for the Grand Central Plaza has exceeded the amount of apartments available.
Construction is expected to be complete this spring.
