DULUTH - Final preps were underway Monday for the 39th annual Grandma's Oktoberfest."It's so lively. People are always in good spirits when they come here. Live polka music, you can get up and dance while you are waiting for food," said Addy Scrimgeour, Princess for Oktoberfest.The festivities kick off Tuesday with a parade at 11:30 a.m. starting at Grandma's in Canal Park.The horse carriage and lively musicians will then march through Superior Street along with the Grand Marshal, FOX 21's Dan Hanger, who will be handing out free beer coupons to the crowd."We have it all decked out with the keg and some bratwurst and sour kraut, and we have the ceremonious tapping, and Dan, you'll be tasting the first brew of the year. It is very special. It's a high responsibility," said Brian Dougherty, President of Grandma's Restaurant Company.The tapping of the keg and a whole lot of German food will take place on the deck of Grandma's Restaurant in Canal Park around 12:15 p.m.Oktoberfest will continue through the weekend with a German-themed menu and plenty of beer and competitions at night.
